There are plenty of runners in San Francisco. They compete against the hills or the jog along the coastal paths with their dogs. But then there are those people who head to the extremes … today’s YouTube clip is a video interview with San Francisco ultra marathon runner Jonathan Gunderson. He’s already completed the marathon once before and the interview discusses his plan to do it again, better than the time before. Totally passionate and absolutely fascinating. That race starts today.

YouTube is often a place where people share their home videos or their footage from trips to the Bay Area. Often, these videos aren’t worth viewing, but this particular four minute video of someone waterskiing in the bay is kind of neat. Perhaps it’s because Ive been in a meditative state lately and it just lets you zone out and watch the waves in the water.

It’s a montage of post-quake photos from just after the big 1906 earthquake. Historically significant and somewhat solemn … is that appropriate for Independence Day?

It’s just interesting to me that they do this … predicting the risk levels of earthquakes all throughout the Bay Area and up in to the West Coast. This particular video was the risk for this weekend.
