Regular readers of this site know that there hasn’t been a lot of activity here this week because I’ve been busy on a book deadline for my most recent book, Ghosts of Alcatraz. As a result, it seems fitting to include a YouTube video today that’s about Alcatraz. It’s a series of photos from a tour to the island, set to music that seems totally incongruent to the attitude of the incarceration island.

Today’s quote comes from an interview with archaeologist Allen Pastron who worked extensively in the Bay Area. The actual interview is about that work, but the quote gives an interesting look into crime and vigilantes in San Francisco in the nineteenth century. Gotta love the lawlessness of the Bay Area.
