San Francisco Blog Carnival

Welcome to the June 15, 2007 edition of the san francisco carnival.

San Fran Voice is happy to participate in the blog carnivals, showcasing the work of other blogs in the Bay Area.  Below are the submissions for the most recent of these blog carnivals.  Thank you for your participation!

Silicon Valley Blogger presents This Unusual Property is for Sale, a blog post from January about an old village fire station being sold as a private property.

edithyeung presents Silicon Valley Loves Seth and the Dip

howidied today presents Since You Can’t Go To Burma, Go To Burma Superstar in San Francisco, saying “This article is food related, but mostly my blog is about travel. I’ve lived in SF for 10 years and it’s still the best place to come home to.”

Our first California blog carnival

San Fran Voice is happy to host the California blog carnival, accepting posts from bloggers all over California.  Since it’s the first issue, it’s a quiet one, but the posts that we got are one hundred percent worth checking out.

First, we’ve got this terrifically fun hummingbird article from Carole Lane at The San Diego Beat.  Carole tells us: “This article includes a link to a recipe for hummingbird nectar, and an amazing video of the life of two hummingbirds, from the time they hatch until they leave the nest. (It was shot in San Diego.)”

And then, on a not-so-fun but oh-so-important note, we’ve got an informative article on The Dark Side of Fuel Efficiency from  the blog Wisdom from Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket.

For a return to the fun, check out this post about San Francisco’s Bay to Breakers from the Don’t Ask Questions blog for California Men.

If you’ve got a blog that relates in any way to California, submit a post to our next carnival.

San Fran Voice in the Carnival

We love our site, of course … but we also like supporting all of the other great blogging that’s happening all throughout the blogosphere.  One way that we do that is by chiming in on the blog carnivals that are going on all throughout the year.  Here’s an update on the latest ones where you can find us:

Don’t forget that we’re also running our own carnivals – one for San Francisco and one for California - so if you’ve got posts that you want spread around the world, be sure to submit them!

Running The Carnival

San Fran Voice has been an active participant in the blog carnivals that other people are putting together, but we haven’t found any that relate specifically to San Francisco (one of the most carnival-like cities in the country) or even to California.  I’ve never been one to sit around wondering when someone else is going to start something if it’s something I can start it myself, so I’ve decided that here and now is when these carnivals should get kicked off.

If you don’t know what a blog carnival is, you can read about it here.

If you’ve got a blog post that relates to San Francisco specifically, you can submit it to the San Francisco blog carnival.

If you’ve got a blog post that relates to California generally, submit it instead to the California carnival.

For now, these are each monthly carnivals, so you’ve got some time to get your entries in.  Adult content and ridiculously offensive blogs won’t be posted but the rest are fair game. Spread the word!

San Fran Voice Joins The Carnival

Is there any more appropriate place for a San Francisco site than the carnival?  After all, this city is one big circus of fun happening all the time.  In the spirit of that, San Fran Voice has joined the carnival.  Well, the blog carnival anyway.  If you aren’t familiar with blog carnivals, you can learn about them here.  But basically, they compile together entries (usually weekly or monthly) from blogs which all fit under a certain category.  The categories vary and since SFV loves variety, our participation in blog carnivals varies as well.

Here’s the latest blog carnivals to feature entries by San Fran Voice:

San Fran Voice is regularly a part of the Carnival of Cities hosted by our own Home Turf Media.  The most recent carnivals were hosted by The San Diego Beat which included SFV’s Love Letter to San Francisco (a fact which was also noted by HTM site Brisbane is Home) and Adelaide Green Porridge Café which included SFV’s love lesson that “it’s all in the journey”.

San Fran Voice has more than one love lesson to share and was also part of the Blog Carnival Observations on Life with this “try it; you might like it” post.  This carnival is hosted by Anja Merret, a UK blogger who writes “chatting to my generation”.

True to carnival nature, there is a “Carnival of the Insanities” and SFV is there with the post we have on Hyphy: The Beverage.  This is part of the Dr. Sanity blog by Michigan blogger Pat Santy.

Of course, one of the main things that San Fran Voice is all about is music.  As such, we’re included in the monthly “Soul of Rock ‘n Roll” carnival with our post about local band Merch.

We’re not done frolicking with the circus just yet.  In fact, we’re just getting started so we’ll let you know when we’re at another carnival soon.
