The Long-Awaited Update About San Fran Voice
Okay, maybe it isn’t “long-awaited” but I asked people last week to give their opinions on what they would like to see from San Fran Voice and I’ve incorporated those comments into my planning and come up with the improved version of the site. Since you all were so kind to spread your comments my way, I’m happy to give you the update:
San Fran Voice will be (at least temporarily) suspending all posts that are unrelated to either local music, local art or information about the blog itself. This means that the YouTube picks of the day, the San Francisco quotes, the horoscopes and the other random information that was being posted on the site are going to be gone. While some people did say they liked those parts of San Fran Voice, the overwhelming majority vote was for getting rid of all extraneous things and making SFV all about the local arts and music scene. The extraneous information that’s already on the site will remain in the archives but there will be no new content of this kind at the current time.
What will be found on San Fran Voice are the CD and live show reviews of local musicians, recommended events that are related to either local art or music and interviews with San Francisco’s creative people. Since I will be devoting less time to the site by eliminating the aforementioned extraneous things, I’ll be able to spend more time on crafting more detailed work in this area. Expect to see more reviews as well as a range of different questions on upcoming interviews. Additionally, there have been requests for video clips, so as the weeks roll on, you are likely to see that the YouTube Pick of the day has been replaced with a local music video clip of the week. Similarly, the San Francisco quote of the day will be replaced with a lyric of the week from a local band. And San Fran Voice will be adding an “image” of the week from a local artist. These are changes that will begin sometime in August.
As always, I’m thrilled to be able to help local artists and musicians share their work with the city. All of the feedback and support has been greatly appreciated and I hope that this helps to make SFV more of what you’ve wanted to see.
