Recommended Event: Open mic @ Voodoo
Black Magic Voodoo Lounge is a quirky little place that’s got that neighborhood bar feel where it’s better to be a local but okay to be an outsider. The main thing that the spot is known for is that it’s smoker-friendly. Yep, since it’s owner-operated, they get around the smoking laws and you can puff to your heart’s content if you so desire. But what it should also be known for is the Sunday open mic night. Tomorrow, there should be a full or nearly-full set there by Bludstream (AKA Fernando Paez), the local alternative rock musician who puts a Latin spin on his sounds.
