San Francisco Bands: Griddle
There’s an avante garde psychedelic indie rock band haunting the streets of San Francisco, bringing a unique flavor of multi-generational influences to venues ranging from The Red Devil Lounge to Grant and Green Saloon. The band is Griddle, the members are four talented guys hailing from various parts of the country and the music is infectious.
Of the songs that I’ve heard, “City Made Of Teeth” is the one that’s got my heart, with its addictive rhyming lyrics and drawn out slow rock vocals which harken back to classic rock. Supported by instrumentals which crescendo to give more modern flavor to this classic foundation, the song retreats and peaks repeatedly, leaving you on the edge of bliss and yearning for more.
“City Made of Teeth” is off of Griddle’s third (and newest) album, Klimty Favela. The album’s got fourteen songs which you can access at iTunes through the band’s website, but you might want to think about buying it direct since it comes with a comic book created in collaboration with artist Stephen Tompkins.
The Griddle guys played last night at Red Devil with Elephone and Persephone’s Bees, but don’t fret if you missed them because you’ve got a second chance coming up on March 30th at the Grant and Green show. Before that, you can check them out on MySpace and YouTube.

hey…thanks for saying stuff about us. sweet of you. and glad to hear of your affection for CMoT. just fyi, the show at the end of march is the duo version of griddle (monikkered ’stove’) which is kevin and i doing (primarily) griddle material in a more acoustic setting. better for smaller venues, since griddle has been known to play loud… hope to see you there… thanks again.
