The GLBT community is an integral part of both the history and the modern day life of San Francisco. One sub-category of that community is the drag community, a community which is sometimes loved, sometimes hated and sometimes ignored by the larger community. This clip is a docmentary excerpt which looks at drag life … and features some of San Francisco’s local drag performers.

In the 1960’s, Allen Michael was contacted by space beings who led him to start a commune in San Francisco. Sometimes known as the Galactic Messengers, The One World Family Commune, thrived in the Bay Area. At one point in time, the commune had 200 members; there are still members of the family living together in California today.
